Summer Vacation...

It is officially summer break! I went up to the school for most of the day to participate with N and his class activities. Z acted like he was in first grade doing all of the activities with his brother. The boys in N's class just love when Z comes in. They all love him and give him extra attention. I looked at all of the writing projects for the year and oh how much he has changed from Sept. to now! His did very well on his report card as well.

We took them out for Pizza tonight to celebrate~

I took TONS of pictures and will post more this weekend!

Cousin Rivalry

Tonight the Elks played Bartanen's Auto, and we won. The weather was much better tonight --sunny skies with temps near 70! Most of the fans brought blankets, gloves and even hats just in case it turned cold. The boys seem to do much better with warmer temps!

Our nephew (#3) and "N" (#7) are the same age and tonight they played one another. It is the second time they have played each other. Our nephew is also a great hitter and a quick little runner. As you can see they are all business on the field. "N" was 3 for 3 and had a wonderful game.
It is funny, none of the boys want to be the catcher. Jon was always a catcher and finally talked N into trying it out tonight. He was so proud of his boy!
"Z" on the other hand... he found his little "girl" friend who is a little bit older than him and they were off playing in the dirt (of course) and under the bleachers. He knows how to play the grandparents for treats, but he did eat really well at dinner so he was allowed his usual air head. He ended up right in the tub when we got home.

Speaking of grandparents... "Thank you all for coming to the game, it really means a lot to all of us."

35 degrees, feels like 23 degrees...

not the type of weather we'd expect for the end of May! The little league game was called after the 2nd inning. I think our team was winning. It was just too cold, then it started to rain and some of the little players were actually crying they were so miserable. Now as I look out the family room window I see snow!!!!! Yes, that is what you just read! Jon had a game just over from the little league fields and they are still playing-just crazy if you ask me. We got home and I gave the boys hot chocolate and a sauna ( in our sweats and sweatshirts). 2 more games this week, lets just cross our fingers for warmer and drier weather! Until next time...Cheers!

Holy Coldness!!

Jon just got back from getting N from Grandma/Grandpa's house. This morning it was just below 70 degrees and now it is 48!! Of course we have little league tonight with a bbq prior. I don't think his team will have any NICE weather this season! There is rain in the forecast so we better dress for the weather tonight.
oh-speaking of weather, thank goodness we didn't camp on Sat. night, we woke up Sunday to cold and rain!
When will the nice weather be here to stay?????

Memorial Day Weekend!

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. We went to Van Riper Campground Saturday afternoon/evening. We were going to camp-in our tent- but I was worried it would get too cold in the night for the boys (and mom too!). So we did our usual afternoon of fun with friends and then headed home. It turned out to be the nicest day of the weekend-we grilled, made s'mores and just played around. From acorn fights, football, and a marshmallow fight to end the night. Our football game started out with a simple game of playing catch with the little boys to the girls (adults) vs. the boys (adults with the little ones "trying" to play too)! We had so much fun and were exhausted when we were done. A few scratches, ripped clothing and a lot of dirt! You would have had to be there to see how crazy we were being (even without any cocktails!) A fun time was had by all.

On Sunday, we brought the boys to town for Sunday School but the church was dark and empty so apparently it is done until fall. So we did our usual Sunday visiting and even fit in some baseball. "N" decided it would be a good night for a sleep over since he was having a long weekend. So Grandma/Grandpa D decided that would be fine. "Z" decided not to stay and wanted to come home with us. Notice how Z thinks hitting his brother with the bat is more fun than the Tee. He will be our little handful on the field.

Regional Champions

Jon had his Regional Track meets last night in Norway. It didn't even start until 5:15pm-so he didn't get home until 11pm. His girls took first place (the first meet they have won this year)!! The boys took 2nd place. So it was a great night for the athletes.
Only a few more meets left to the season.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

We hope everyone had a great day and was able to enjoy being a mom or spending time with their mom.
I had a wonderful weekend, and even got a lot of kisses and hugs xoxoxoxo. Yesterday, Jon had a track meet so the 2 boys and I ran around all day. They actually cooperated with the shopping and we had a lot of fun! Today was a busy Sunday as usual and we were able to see all of the Mothers & Grandmothers throughout the day. Now to get ready for another week.

A pet worm named wormy

Last week we were our working in the yard before I went to work and I showed Z a worm. He wanted to hold it and it soon became his pet named "wormy". He decided it was a girl since there were more boys in our house than girls. He put it in the cup with sand (from the sandbox--not such a good idea) and wanted to carry it around all day. He wanted it to come and watch him do v-smile but we decided it should stay in the dining room on the table so it wouldn't dump on the carpet. He said it was too small to do "cuchie, cuchie, coo" (s/p?????) and tickle it's belly so we'd just say it to her. In the morning it was all shriveled up and I told him that wormy went to Heaven and he said "No she didn't mom, she's in the dining room on the table".

At least both boys know that is as close to a pet that they will have! I guess aside from their stuffed animals.
He's just telling me that she was his best friend and that he loved her!

A big night last night for the Beckman's

Last night was a big night...N had his first Little League game. His team seemed to do really well and N says that they won. I don't think they keep score but it seemed as though they scored more runs. I was able to get out of work early and see most of the game! Both sets of Grandparents were there for the big event-- if you are reading...THANK YOU for coming! They play again on Friday night -against one of his friends team--he is so excited. Z hung out by the dugout for most of the game and just kept on eating. He is our little snacker. Then Grandpa D took him to swing for a few minutes in the last inning.

Then while N was laying in bed he pulled his other loose tooth out! We heard a big bang and he came flying down to the family room, with his tooth is his hand. We washed out his mouth ( he cannot stand to have blood in his mouth when he looses teeth!) and then got his little pouch out for the tooth fairy. He woke up to $1.00 in his pouch. The lil fairy seems quite generous compared to when we were kids. He is happy now that he can eat corn on the cob again. Maybe this weekend we will try to find some.

Z also had a great night!! While getting ready for bed he told dad that he needed to wear underwear to bed since he was potty trained and didn't need to wear pull ups. He and I had a conversation similar to that earlier in the day. So we took a chance and he woke up dry!!! Now he doesn't wake up every morning dry in his pullup, so I am not sure what we were thinking! So we will keep you posted on upcoming nights.

Tonight is the Shrine Circus. I have to work afternoon shift so dad and grandpa d will be taking the boys. I'll let you know how it went...

Play dates, coffee & hair?

Yesterday, my girlfriend and her daughter came over for our usual play date--playing, coffee and lunch. When we would have our play dates with our oldest children they would never fight or bicker, they'd just "play". Now our youngest two are either hot or cold to one another. They play great and then out of the blue they are arguing, and yesterday was one of those days. So we let the little ones play (and play referee), we have coffee and catch up on latest of whatever is going on (even though the day before our coffee/play dates we could have spend an hour or more on the phone!)

So yesterday we decided to go and get a box of hair dye and add that to coffee time. We loaded the kids in her Trailblazer and off we went to find the perfect color. It was still damp when she left but through the somewhat dry parts it was coming out nice. I wasn't such a willing participant since I have may appointment next week. We are planning on pedicures to treat ourselves to our birthdays since they are a few weeks apart. Since we still have snow (in the woods- although we won't be walking in the woods with bare toes) we will wait for nicer sandal weather. This time our date will be with no fighting 2 & 3 year olds! I can't wait!

Tonight N has his second baseball practice. I work and Jon has a track meet so Grandma/Grandpa D will do dinner with the boys and take them to baseball.
