Our Lil Slugger!

Little League started this week, with our first experience with Coach/pitch. N will be playing for the Elks. On Thursday Jon had a track meet so with no one to take care of the boys I had to take time off from work to take N to his first practice. It was a cool and rainy evening. I brought my grandma (MUMU to the boys) to come and watch. He was soooo excited-we had to listen to TNT by ACDC on the way to get "pumped up". My grandma loved the LOUD music or was it there were 2 cute little boys in the back seat singing each and every word. Z had a great time at the park

This morning, he had a bottle drive in the freezing 35 degree weather. Thank goodness it didn't take long, but he was pretty cold when we were done. We also took a ride to get him baseball shoes. What a production, but fun! He has wide feet and there weren't many in his size to choose from. He had two criteria: they had to feel good on his feet but they also had to look good! He really liked the NIKE - but they were way too narrow. So they looked good, but the fitting part didn't really work out. We had to tell him that fitting properly came first and then making sure they looked good. We settled on a pair of black Reebok. They felt the best and look good. He was so cute.

The clothing recycle.

We have saved most all of the clothes so we can pass them on to 'z'. When we had the carpeting put in I took out all of the clothes in anticipation of warmer weather. So today I went through the size 4 summer clothes. The shorts look soooo big but actually fit pretty well. They are longer in length so 'n' was able to wear them for a few summers with still fitting, so hopefully 'z' will too. Also, thank goodness for adjustable waistbands! He was a real trooper this morning trying on old clothes as well as his "new" clothes. But as you can see got tuckered out. Now the laundry room is full -again!

What a beautiful evening!

Last night after I got home from work we were able to quick eat our pasty dinner-yum- and then we went for a walk/run/bike ride. I started out pushing the stroller then daddy had to push it. So there I was running with 'N' on his bike. As most of you know I am not a runner, speed walker yes but me running for long distances not a pretty site. 'N' said he likes it when I go with him when he is riding because then I can get my exercise. How intuitive they can be. My goal for the spring is to be able to run for longer distances. If I'd remember to take my inhaler before I went out I'd do much better.
There were so many people out in our neighborhood it was great! Looking forward to much nicer weather. But not looking forward to the struggle to get the boys inside to get ready for bed after an evening outdoors.

Jon seems to be coming around with this idea of doing a blog. He doesn't want us to use the boys names so "N" & "Z" will have to do. Before we know it he will be doing posts, etc.

A friend of mine from High School has her own family web page, a blog, a myspace page and who knows maybe some other type of page that I don't even know about. I know everything about her life and her two adorable twin boys and she knows nothing about me. Another has a page devoted to her daughter and her daughter soon to come. We don't see each other very often so it is great to see her family and what they are up to. So since we have soooo many people that we want to keep in touch with this is our attempt.

New flooring

We finally took the plunge and decided it was time to replace the flooring in our home. We had most everything picked out for the past year but just never did anything about it. Well, we installed the laminate flooring ourselves (actually Jon and my dad did that project)and then Carpet Specialists did the upstairs bedrooms/hallway/stairs and kitchen. We thought it was time to get rid of the peach carpet in Nathan's room. In the living room picture notice that we now have an opening that leads into the kitchen. It makes the flow of that level so much nicer. He and his dad and another teacher tackled the opening, but it took forever for Jon to get the drywall done!!! I still have to rehang some things on the wall. The boys love having "new" rooms to play in!!

Our oldest is 7!

It is hard to imagine that "N-dog" is already 7! He wanted to have a bowling birthday party this year. Of course the night before and the day of his party we had a spring blizzard! A few years ago we had a yard full of green grass and this year snowbanks! He still had a great turnout despite the weather. After the first game, they had cake and ice cream and then attempted to stay focused on bowling the second game. It was a lot of fun. I did get some great ideas from http://www.familyfun.com/ under the party section. I attempted to make the bowling pin cake, but of course it didn't work out. So I used two circle cakes for bowling balls. (it really wasn't as cute as the pin cake)

Then we had our family party at the house later that afternoon. We had food, fun and a lot of chaos. He received a lot of nice gifts throughout the day--thank you to all!

Now Z-dog can't stop talking about his sports party that he'll have for his birthday. I am sure that will change before August rolls around.

I just wrote my first post and for some reason it wasn't on the site - so I am going to try to post this before typing it all only to find out it is lost somewhere

see you soon...
